Welcome, I’m so happy to have you here!

Hi, I’m Emily and I’m a psychiatric nurse practitioner based in Denver, Colorado. I grew up in Georgia, but was always captivated by the grandness of the American West. The towering peaks and roaring rivers beckoned to me, and as soon as I graduated with my bachelor’s in journalism from UGA in 2008, I packed my dilapidated pickup truck to the gills and hightailed it to Idaho. My degree was shelved while I took to the oars and became a river guide on the Salmon River.

The years passed and, though the mountains never lost their luster, my aimless wanderings led way to an impenetrable, creeping depression. I sought treatment, was asked a few questions by the provider’s assistant, handed a prescription, and sent on my way. Without guidance or support, I felt scared, confused, and unmoored. I thought, “there’s got to be a better way than this.” It took several years of trial and error, but with the help of loved ones, I eventually found my way out of the depths of sadness.

Through my struggles, a new passion was born. I became a voracious researcher of every supplement, herbal treatment, exercise modality, and nutritional plan that could help me feel happier, less anxious, and more optimized. For all things holistic, I became a lifelong, devout student.

The logical next step was to turn this passion into my career. I obtained my Master’s of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt in 2018, specializing in psychiatry to help others through their mental health challenges. It is my greatest joy and privilege to help patients not only improve, but thrive, in their wellbeing.

In my practice, I am deeply drawn to integrative psychiatry for its holistic approach, which extends beyond the traditional reliance on pharmaceutical medications. I find immense value in exploring a diverse spectrum of interventions and modalities to support my patients in achieving optimal mental health.

Before becoming a nurse practitioner, I was a guide on the Salmon River.

Many weekends, you can find my husband and I enjoying the mountains of Colorado.

MyValues:

  • Your trust is my highest priority. You will never be told your symptoms are “all in your head.” I am here to listen, not to judge.

Your challenges will never go ignored or overlooked. You are the expert on your lived experience, and we will work together to build a plan based on your unique circumstances.

  • It’s never just about medication, and no treatment is ever one-size-fits-all. I hold a steadfast belief that every individual who seeks support deserves a unique, personalized approach to their treatment. I am committed to the principle that no two people are alike, each carrying their own set of experiences, challenges, and aspirations.

  • I want to you to understand the ins and outs of your own treatment. If you’re prescribed a medication or supplement, you should know why. If there’s a treatment that’s appropriate for you, we’ll talk about it. If you’re currently undergoing a treatment that isn’t helping you, we’ll come up with a new plan.

  • It’s never too late to start treatment. Aging is normal, suffering is not. Today is the perfect day to start building for your better future. Let’s get started.
